Family Discipleship

Jesus commanded that we “... go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19).

And that is exactly what we aim to do!

Our vision is to seek and save the lost – but our responsibility doesn’t end there. America has become a Biblically illiterate nation. We simply don’t take the time to study to show ourselves approved, as Paul advised.

Bible sales are strong; recent research has shown that 90% of U.S. households own at least one Bible. But surveys show that fewer than 20% of those who own a Bible will ever read it through.

This lack of Bible reading is not limited to “nominal” Christians, either. According to surveys by the Barna Research Group, only 14% of evangelicals read the Bible at least once per week.

The Barna Research Group also found that:

·        Fewer than half of adults can name the four gospels.

·        Many Christians cannot identify more than three disciples.

·        60 percent of Americans can’t name five of the 10 Commandments.

If we can’t name the commandments, how can we expect to keep them?
